Introduction to Sailing Gift Certificate: $158

The Introduction to Sailing class is a 4-hour, one-day course on Monterey Bay with a USCG-licensed captain. You’ll learn the basics of sailing, including points of sail, tacking, jibing, and how to take the helm. Most of the class occurs on the boat, providing hands-on experience. We recommend this course for beginner sailors.

Note: Please check our schedule for the next available class, which is usually offered once a month on either Saturday or Sunday.

Basic Keelboat Gift Certificates: $1044

This two-weekend course (4 days total) prepares the recipient to sail and cruise safely in local waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 30-34 feet during daylight hours in moderate to strong wind and sea conditions.

Note: Please check our schedule for the next available class, which is usually offered once a month.

Basic Coastal Cruising Gift Certificates: $1129

The goal of this two-weekend (4-day total) course is to introduce participants to traditional techniques of coastal navigation and to refine the skills learned in Basic Keelboat.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to read nautical charts, identify landmarks and aids to navigation, determine the vessel’s location, plot a course, dock the vessel under motor power, take precautions when sailing in reduced visibility, and successfully recover an overboard person.

Note: Please check our schedule for the next available class, which is usually offered once a month.

Bareboat Chartering Class Gift Certificates: $1313

This course continues to prepare the recipient to charter a larger wheel-steered auxiliary powered sailboat, sailing by day in coastal waters in moderate to strong wind and sea conditions.

They will continue to build and review on the skills learned in the Basic Keelboat, and Coastal Cruising courses. Completion of this class prepares them to take the ASA Bareboat Chartering Certification.

Note: Please check our schedule for the next available class, which is usually offered once a month.

Five-Day Course Gift Certificate: $1418

In this combination course, we will teach you the fundamentals of sailing and seamanship, go over knots, sail theory and other topics to give you the skills and confidence you need to safely skipper and crew a 27′ to 30′ tiller sailboat in light to moderate wind and sea conditions on lakes or other protected bodies of water. We will then expand your sail training, coaching you in how to skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 30-34 feet during daylight hours in moderate to strong wind and sea conditions.

At the conclusion of the course, the student should be able to read a nautical chart and identify corresponding landmarks and aids to navigation, determine the vessel’s location, plot a course to steer, properly dock the vessel under motor power, take appropriate precautions when sailing under reduced visibility, and successfully recover an overboard victim. We recommend that students continue on to take our Bareboat Course to refine your skills and become certified to charter our yachts and vessels worldwide.

Note: Please check our schedule for the next available class, which is usually offered once a month.

Two-Hour Private Skippered Charter Gift Certificates: $450

Our US Coast Guard licensed Captain will take the recipient and their party of up to 5 guests (6 people maximum including the recipient) onboard one of our 10 luxury sailing yachts. Restroom (head) and kitchen (galley) facilities are located below deck. They can get a feel for sailing on the beautiful Monterey Bay National Sanctuary. During their sail, they are welcome to participate as much as they desire. If they choose to just watch the coastline and enjoy having our Skipper sail the boat completely, that’s fine also.
